Preparing Graphics Files

If you are preparing graphic files for us, here are a few tips:

  • We accept both Mac and PC and can work with virtually any software.
  • When providing vector art or fonts, it is important to convert to curves or create outlines out of all text used. Common files extensions for this type of file include ai, eps, and cdr. For a vector art file with no placed images resolution is not a concern.
  • Save photographic images at 100% of the actual size (when possible) and at 300dpi resolution. Common file extensions for such files are psd, tif, jpeg, and gif.
  • Please note: Artificially increasing the resolution of an image (e.g. opening a 72dpi JPEG in Photoshop and typing 300dpi in the image properties) will not make it look better! When reviewing your images you should view them at approximately 120% size to get a good feel for how they will look when printed. If they look blocky (pixelated) or blurry, that's how they will print too!

Supplying Files

However, it is not possible to keep all versions of software. Please refer to the guidelines set out below when providing artwork:

You can supply your artwork using the following media:

  • CD/DVD
  • USB Flash Drive
  • Email (up to a maximum of 10mb).
We use the following software:

  • CorelDraw up to X3
  • Adobe illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop

Embroidery / Digitising Setup

The embroidery setup charge covers the cost of drawing-up and programming your artwork so it can be used on an embroidery machine. This is a one off charge and the artwork is stored by ourselves for you. Embroidery setup is charged at £7 per 1000 stitches excl. VAT.

Embroidery is then charged per item onto your garment, the minimum charge is £2.50 up to 5000 stitches over this add 25p per 1000 stitches.

Screen Printing Setup

The process of screen printing involves pushing ink through a mesh stencil onto the garment, the ink is then dried using a flash unit. Screen printing is normally used for printing designs onto most types of clothing and promotional goods and is extremely durable.

Screen printing is done by printing one colour at a time therefore the cost increases with every colour, 4 colours requires 4 screens and each screen is charged at £20.00 after this is the cost per print which depends on the quantity, size & items to be printed.

Complex artwork will also incur an additional charge.

Digital Printing Setup

If you supply the artwork as outlined above there is no setup charge. Any design or artwork required will be charged at £28.00 per hour.

Sign Making & Vehicle Graphics

Signs and vehicle graphics are normally produce by cutting or printing (or a mixture of both) onto vinyl film which is then transferred onto the substrate or vehicle.

Most artwork for signs and vehicles is included in the price but complex logos and images will be charged for separately at £28.00 per hour.

Proofs / Designs

We do not produce proofs of artwork unless you are having the job done and are normally included in the price, if the customer does not proceed with the work they will be charged for any work carried out.
